Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

About our services

What services does StArt La Palma offer in the field of astronomy?

At StArt La Palma, we offer a variety of services related to astronomy, art and scientific dissemination. Our main focus is to provide unique stargazing experiences in La Palma, where you can admire and learn about stars, constellations, planets and celestial objects in a unique and close way. We currently offer three types of activities: Astronomical Observation, VIP Astronomical Experience and Personalised Observation. Each of them offers a unique and enriching experience that will immerse you in the fascinating world of astronomy. Our aim is to bring astronomy to the public in a fun, innovative and personalised way through art and science.

What is the difference between the Astronomy Observation, the VIP Astronomy Experience and the Customised Activity?

The Astronomy Observation is a group activity in which, together with other enthusiasts, you will observe the night sky with the naked eye and through telescopes. The VIP Astronomy Experience, on the other hand, gives you an exclusive, private, immersive experience tailored to your preferences, allowing you to point and focus on celestial objects through binoculars and telescopes by yourself.

On the other hand, we also offer the Customised Activity, which is a special option in which we adapt to your needs, for example, if you need us to dynamize a special event in a special location, such as birthdays, anniversaries, institutional celebrations, business or family events, among others. It's just a matter of contacting us!

Where do stargazing activities take place on La Palma?

Our stargazing activities take place at the San Antonio Volcano Visitor Centre, located in Fuencaliente De La Palma. The location may vary depending on weather conditions to ensure the best observation experience, in which case we will contact you with all the information.

What is the typical duration of an astronomical observing activity?

The duration of our astronomical observation activities varies depending on the type. The Astronomy Observation lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, the VIP Astronomy Experience lasts 2 hours, and the Personalised Observation depends on the type of activity you require.

What is included in the astronomical observation activities?

During any of our activities, you will have the opportunity to observe stars, constellations, planets and celestial objects with the naked eye and through a telescope. You will understand the importance of the island of La Palma for astronomy and you will live a unique and immersive experience.

On full moon nights, you will be able to take home a souvenir photograph taken by yourself with your mobile phone through the telescope.

If you choose the VIP Astronomy Experience, you will have access to the San Antonio Volcano Visitor Centre, where you will enter the astronomical dome to contemplate the cosmos, and if you wish, you will take a souvenir photo next to it. You'll have more time to use the two telescopes included in the activity yourself, plus you'll get a bottle of water and an energy bar to make you feel like an astronomer for a night. The best thing is that you will be able to see first hand a real certified moon rock, a certified meteorite and the remains of meteorite impacts, while we explain their origin to you.

But for astronomy and art there are no limits, so if you have something in mind, an event or celebration, you can contact us to organise your personalised activity.

About StArt La Palma

Who are the founders and members of StArt La Palma?

StArt La Palma is formed by María José and Nicolás, a multidisciplinary team that brings together expertise in various fields. Both are Starlight Foundation certified Astronomy Monitors and integral artists.

Our true essence is best experienced by participating in one of our activities.

What is the added value of art in your activities?

In any of our activities, we use art as a means of communication. What recommendations do you have for clothing during night-time activities?

We recommend you wear comfortable and warm clothes, as the nights can be cool on La Palma. It is also a good idea to bring water and some snacks to enjoy during the activity. The most important thing is that you come with a lot of desire to live an unforgettable experience under the starry sky.
